FoodSavers launches in Leeds
We were thrilled that our official launch in Leeds took place during the significant #TalkMoneyWeek last week. The launch in Leeds aligned perfectly with this momentous week, making it even more impactful.
Our guests at Sedulo’s wonderful events space included representatives from Leeds City Credit Union, Leeds Food Aid Network, Feeding Britain and local Fintech (financial technology) companies. Having them involved, with their invaluable contribution to the conversation, further invigorated our commitment to enhancing our collective impact as we engage with Food Aid providers across Leeds, discussing with potential outlets as we weave the FoodSavers Network further into the great tapestry of the city.
The launch event on the 7th November featured a range of speakers with a wealth of knowledge and first hand experiences of being part of the FoodSavers Network:
- Juli Thompson, CEO of Inn Churches / FoodSavers opened the event and was inspirational talking through how FoodSavers has evolved over three years.
- Andrew Forsey, National Director of Feeding Britain gave us his insights and thoughts on the FoodSavers model and the journey so far.
- Maria Varley-Tawfik and Amanda Garcia, FoodSavers Relationship Managers, led an interactive session exploring our five pillars – Behaviour Change, Choice, Dignity, Empowerment and Financial Inclusion and how these principles run through the network.
- Chris Clark of Bingley Community Kitchen shared her experience of being a FoodSavers outlet, and the importance of keeping accurate records.
- Fran Graham of Armley Action Team eloquently spoke about how proud they are to join the FoodSavers Network and how they wanted to be involved and introduce FoodSavers to Armley.

Financial inclusion forms a cornerstone of our mission. By dismantling barriers and ensuring access to tools and opportunities, we empower individuals to realise their financial aspiration, fostering inclusivity.
Through these collaborative partnerships, we will continue the narrative where every empowered choice, the potential for positive behavioural change, and financial inclusion build a community where choice counts and takes us all to a better future.
