In the market for change

We’re delighted to be opening two brand new venues in the new Darley Street Market. Both on the middle floor (the fresh food hall) overlooking the new public square, the venues open on 12th July 2025 with the rest of the market.

FoodSavers Cookery School

Our new FoodSavers Cookery School will continue our well-established Inn Churches Cooking work in a brand new space. We’ll be running our popular kids’ cooking classes over the summer, with new adult cooking classes following in the autumn, as well as some exciting special events.

The FoodSavers Cookery School aims to empower, educate and inspire as many people as possible to cook great tasting healthy food for themselves and their families, helping them to understand:

  • healthy eating
  • food safety in the kitchen
  • a range of different cooking methods
  • how to improve their cooking skills

…whilst having fun and meeting new friends!

Our courses are fun, friendly and welcoming. They are suitable for complete beginners, people with all abilities, people who already enjoy cooking and people who are yet to be convinced.

We run courses and workshops for community groups and schools, as well as open access sessions that anybody can book on, ensuring that anybody can get hands-on cooking experience, combined with friendly advice on recipes, ingredients, shopping and nutrition, local and seasonal food. We’ve also partnered with Jamie’s Ministry of Food to deliver fun and friendly classes with delicious Ministry of Food recipes.

FoodSavers Wellnest

We’re also excited to be launching our new FoodSavers Wellnest venue adjacent to the cookery school.

The Wellnest is a dedicated community space designed to nurture wellness, sustainability, and social impact – both individually and in building collective resilience within our community. Created as a collaborative venue for FoodSavers and our partner organisations, this versatile space will create accessible opportunities for the community to engage with essential wellness services, including mental health support, nutritional education, food safety and hygiene training, and health screenings. The space is thoughtfully designed to accommodate diverse programming, from intimate workshops and support groups to larger community wellness fairs and educational seminars.

The Wellnest will operate on the principle that wellness extends beyond individual health to encompass food security, environmental consciousness, and community connection. With partners including My Living Well, BDCU, healthcare providers, wellness practitioners, and other local organisations, we aim to create a network of resources that addresses personal and community wellbeing in a welcoming, accessible environment where learning, healing, and community building intersect.

Opening weekend

Darley Street Market opens on the weekend of 12th and 13th July 2025 with two days of events and activities, including a cooking demonstration from our very own Soraya. Come along and see us, explore the market and find out more.
