Calling volunteers

Inn Churches has always run with a small staff team – because of the additional food distribution work we undertook on behalf of the Council last year we had the largest staff we’ve ever had, which was still only the equivalent of six full-time people across all of our work. Because of this we rely heavily on our fantastic volunteers, many of whom have been with us for many years (and some who join for a shorter time – for which we’re also really grateful).

Recently a few volunteers have had to step down because of health concerns or other commitments, and we’re currently short of some regular volunteers in our warehouse.

Could you help out?

The role involves weighing and sorting donated food, managing stock, assisting with food collections and deliveries in our van, assembling food for collection, and sorting donated clothing, bedding and other items, as well as helping to keep our warehouse clean and tidy.

You need to be physically fit as it involves moving crates of food around – but you don’t need to be in the gym every day (and after a couple of hours lifting crates you won’t need to be!) – and you’d need to be able to make a regular commitment (although of course we don’t expect you never to have time off).

Volunteering shifts are usually three hours: 9am-12noon Mon-Fri (12.30pm Fri), and 12noon-3pm Tue-Wed.
