Half-term cooking
Hearty Vegetable Soup, Chicken Soup, Cheesy Tomato Pasta Bake, Chicken Satay Stir Fry with Noodles, Spaghetti with Freshly Prepared Tomato Sauce, Pancakes with Fruit and Ice Cream, Peach and Ginger Crumble.
Sounds like the menu of an amazing restaurant, or the contents page of a fabulous cookbook doesn’t it?
These are actually some of the wonderful and inspiring recipes that have been created this February half term break by some of our brilliant young chefs who usually join us during school holidays for cooking sessions.
Despite not being able to hold the classes in person, we’re still reaching lots of young people and their families with exciting ingredients and this half term created a challenge for them to come up with the ideas for recipes themselves. We put together 45 ‘Kids’ Cooking Challenge’ recipe boxes, and with the help of some great volunteers (thank you Tess, Peter and Sue) managed to deliver them to families across Bradford.
Each £3 box contained a selection of ingredients for participants to create between 3-5 meals or snacks of their choice, and the results have been amazing. We’ve had so many great pictures shared on our Cooking at the Storehouse Facebook Page and have really loved seeing what ideas people have been coming up with.
We’re already looking forward to and planning for the Easter break, and we’re eagerly waiting to find out when we might be able to hold classes face to face once again as we can’t wait to see everyone for new and exciting sessions.
