Current shortages
We are always keen to intercept good quality food that would otherwise be wasted. This can include food that is past its ‘best before’ date providing that it is still of good quality – as a general rule, consider whether you would eat it. If in doubt, please contact us.
We cannot accept food that is past its ‘use by’ date.
We are currently particularly short of:
- UHT milk
- Tinned fruit
- Cereal
- Multipack cereal
- Tea (not green/fruit etc.)
- Coffee
- Cup-a-soup.
Our Food Hub works to support feeding projects across Bradford, many of them preparing meals for large numbers of people at a time. Therefore we have a particular need for bulk or catering size packages of food. However, we do also support a number of smaller projects who can use household or domestic size packages – as well as distributing food parcels through the Warm Homes Healthy People partnership.
We nearly always need more of the following items to meet the needs of the projects we work with:
- Rice
- Coffee
- Tea
- Sugar
- Long-life (UHT) milk
- Loose / whole fruit and vegetables (ie. not sliced/chopped or tinned)
- Cooking oil
- Herbs and spices, stock cubes, gravy granules etc.
- Jam, marmalade and honey
- Cereal
We can always use tinned or packet goods of any sort: tinned beans or spaghetti, tinned/packet soup, pasta sauces, tinned tomatoes, tinned vegetables, tinned fruit, pulses, tinned meat, tinned fish, tinned vegetarian meals, tinned/packet puddings (especially rice pudding) and custard, pasta, long-life juice, packet pasta/noodles, packet sauces.
We can also use smaller quantities of biscuits, snacks and treats, although we get plenty of these donated already.
